Wintering with Care
Deep into the winter month, I have been feeling inwardly drawn, less active and focused on nurturing my body and energy stored in the kidneys. Even though the light is returning slowly, it feels dark and gloomy just like the weather. My inner landscape is also spotlighting the shadow parts, the dark, hard, rough, cold and admittedly scary. And at the same time there is this faint excitement like gold mining (or crystal hunting along the Hudson river that I am more familiar with) as I know going through this dark muddiness will bring a treasure that has been hidden within me. A treasure that has been inherently mine and patiently waiting to be uncovered.
I hope you can relate to my dialogue one way or the other as many people seem like going through a major shift or transformation right now physically, environmentally, and energetically. This is a darker time of the year, and perfect time to dig deep into your inner landscape and prepare yourself toward the lunar new year, which I feel like more true beginning of the new year.
I do feel the dawn is close. And the herbal steam is so helpful in all the aspects of wintering with care and a little more ease! Weekly steam has been a crucial part of my winter self-care routine to have deeper introspective time, hydrating my dry skin, and nourish my energy by warming the kidneys.
I want to have more conversations about wintering with you! Please drop in to get a steam and have a delightful conversation (even if we talk about hard stuff!)
